welcome

Welcome

The Tourism Industry is not an activity that is limited to those who work in the hospitality or catering Services; rather it is an activity, which developed out of the need for social interaction for business and educational purposes.

The Malta Tourism Society (MTS) was set up in May 2002 by a group of persons who shared this same ideology of an inclusive and diverse tourism industry.

Membership of the Society is not limited to any specific sector and should include the practitioner and the academic as well as the civic representation in its cross-section.
During the first year of its inception, the Malta Tourism Society had focused, primarily, on creating international networks. Today, the MTS is a member of the International Council of Tourism Partners (ICPT) and the European Union of Tourism Officers (EUTO)

The next stage of its strategic growth included the formulation of a three-year business plan and a structured membership drive. Once this stage had been successfully completed we then moved to the next step, which included negotiations to reach mutually beneficial strategic partnerships with the commercial sector.

Concurrently with its policy of inclusiveness and diversity, the Malta Tourism Society will continue to work for more civic awareness and knowledge of the single largest socio-economic activity in Europe and the World to ensure that sustainability is a collective function in ensuring quality and value for money.

You, too, can form part of this society - by joining today you can participate in all activities, which are the drivers for action.

Welcome to our website, we have tried to make this an interactive address where our visitors can let us know what they think about the various issues discussed or even suggest certain issues.

Members also have the benefit of receiving the quarterly publication: Il-Gardjola - which should supplement this website.

Finally, my thanks to the webmaster who has very kindly agreed to assist us set up the site; to the executive council members, past and present, who have worked unceasingly these past years to build the society out of a simple dream and vision and now, my thanks to you, our readers and members for showing an interest in our work - I augur that this interest will continue to grow and develop.

Take Care
